Got the phone in Canada a couple of weeks ago, here are some observations:
- GSM Signal strength not consistent or as strong as domestic cell phones
- Spelling errors in menu: EG: 'dail' instead of 'dial'.
- No maps for North AMerica, but you can get GPS co-ordinates as long as you don't tell it to load non-existant NA Maps. Satellite aquisition seems to take a long time, cannot ascertain if it is a SIRF III chipset.
- display resolution not great, my Dell Axim PDA for example much better.
- TV works but very weak signal reception, more of a novelty, but handy if you want to check news or weather while travelling.
- Poor WiFI signal aquistion, probably does not support WPA Enterprise, etc.
- Does not get too hot.
- Virtual touch keyboard, characters to small for much texting, my teenage daughter who texts a lot did not like it.
- Media player only plays MP4 or 3gp format, and after I converted my videos some would play, others would not. Again display too washed out to bother watching videos on it unless you're desperate.
- Camera is real low resolution.
- Now for the worst, the display went blank after two weeks of use. Phone still worked, but you could not see anything.
Overall the build quality of this phone is not quite where you'd really want one, especially with the poor signal reception. Apparently the F003 is a better built product so even though the screen is not what I'd like, we may just get one of those instead.
